Q: What neighborhoods are within walking distance to the Navy Stadium?
A: Homewood, Admiral Heights, Stadium and West Annapolis. Check out the neighborhood locations-MAP
Q: When should I start booking a home for Commissioning Week 2010, 2011?
A: We start working officially with each new class in the fall, a 20-18 months before graduation. Some owners will commit farther ahead than that, but we don't encourage it as too much can change in their lives and yours!
Q: How do we arrange to see the houses we are interested in renting?
A: If a property has an absentee owner we can arrange to show you the house. Otherwise, we provide you with owners' names and phone numbers, and you make arrangments directly with them to see the houses; in most cases we can provide additional photos. When you make your decision, you contact us for the deposits and contract.
Q: Can we rent a house for less than a week during Commissioning Week?
A: Until a couple of months before graduation, owners want a full week. Usually by March, some owners who have not rented will consider fewer nights at a slight premium. Keep in mind that it's just as much work to get the house ready for four nights as it is for seven.
Q: Can we host a party at the house during our stay?
A: Your hosts have in most cases set a limit on the size party they are comfortable with; talk with them about entertaining before signing the Reservation contract. An approved gathering for 30 that becomes 60 is grounds for eviction and/or forfeit of the whole damage deposit. If your approved host cannot approve your plans for entertaining, your choices are to either find another venue for the party or find another house.
Q: What is a Damage Deposit?
A: Damage deposit is not a part of the reservation deposit, but is an escrowed amount that can be claimed by your hosts should there be damages, exceptional cleaning, or telephone charges. We encourage hosts to let us know immediately if we can return the deposit, or if there is a claim. Damage deposits are processed for your renturn no later than 30 days after your check-out at the latest; you will be advised of any claims against your deposit.
Q: Do the airports provide transportation to Annapolis?
A: Baltimore- Washington International Airport Service provides van service to Annapolis' hotels (Loew's, Marriott, Sheraton and DoubleTree), where a cab can be arranged to your rental home. Reservations are required for your return trip, but not for airport pick up. Call 1-800-BLUE VAN, for schedule and fare. Taxi service from BWI to Annapolis is estimated $47.00, you can find a cab outside of the bagage claim area. Private Car serivce from BWI to Annapolis is estimated $52.00 (410-519-0000). For service from Reagan National and Dulles Airports, call 1-800-BLUE VAN.
Q: How much deposit is required?
A: A 50% deposit is required within one week of making your decision; the balance is due 120 days before check-in (mid January of graduation year). If the reservation is made within the 120 day window, the entire reservation fee is due within one week of making your reservation.
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A:Cancellation more than 120 days from your arrival has a 20% (of the whole reservation) forfeit- i.e. $500 + 6% tax for a $2500 reservation. Cancellation less than 120 days before arrival has a cancellation forfeit of 100% of the weekly fee , + 6% tax. This as a protection to the owner, as it is unlikely to rebook the house.
Q: What are my rights if an owner cancels?
A. In the event that the house you rent becomes unavailable for any reason, Annapolis Accommodations will make every effort to find a comparable alternative. Should you choose to find your own alternative, all monies already paid will be promptly returned to you.
